AN 1866 COLLABORATION BY PHOTOGRAPHERS GREG ALEXANDER & TIMOTHY SMITH

No Cap! Collection

DEBUTING AT SHANKLIN HALL

A striking 7-part visual series within the 1866 collaboration by photographers Greg Alexander and Timothy Smith, No Cap! explores the many hats Black folks wear - across identity, purpose, and presence - while honoring the resilience, beauty, and fluidity of how we move through different roles and spaces.

Featuring timeless styling by Wilfree Vasquez with Harlem’s Heaven hats, bold makeup artistry by Shevon Ashley, the grace of models Janine Tondu and Royce Paris, and the alchemy of producer Sonya Teclai the collection weaves together power and elegance. Each portrait transforms the hat into a symbolic anchor—layering history, depth, and intention onto every look.

No Cap! is both celebration and reclamation: a testament to style, selfhood, and the multiplicity of Black expression.

PHOTOGRAPHERS

GREG ALEXANDER is a Virginia native (currently based in D.C.) and the visionary behind the No Cap! Collection, serving as both art director and co-photographer to bring his vision to life. Equally invested in self-discovery and the intersection of race and value, his work translates complex ideas of identity into powerful visual stories that celebrate resilience, beauty, and self-expression.

TIMOTHY SMITH is a visual titan and the co-photographer behind the No Cap! Collection, bringing his timeless eye and polished-grit aesthetic to the series. A Brooklyn-born fashion and portrait photographer with a Masters from the School of Visual Arts, Timothy has collaborated with top international agencies and global brands, with a strong emphasis on editorial street style and advertising. Beyond commercial work, he is deeply passionate about personal projects that tell authentic stories of style, triumph, and cultural richness—making his lens an anchor for truth and expression.
